Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
I have the honour, on behalf of the Odysseus Academic Network and our members present in 21 of the 27 Member States of the European Union, to inform you about the 7th edition of our Summer School on Immigration and Asylum Policy of the European Union, which we have organised for the last six years and which will again take place in Brussels University (U.L.B.) from 2 to 13 July 2007.
I have also the pleasure to inform you of the continuation of our one-year programme that we have launched in September 2006. The continued success since 2001 of our Summer School, which each year attracts more than 150 persons coming from the whole of the European Union and beyond, and the growing demand for education on this subject, have indeed encouraged us to propose a Certificate course aimed at the acquisition of an in-depth knowledge of European Law on Immigration and Asylum in order to train genuine specialists in this developing branch of Community law. The first year gathered an interesting group of 18 participants from diverse backgrounds.
We hope to have the pleasure and honour to welcome at the very beginning of July M. Franco Frattini, Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Justice, Liberty and Security to deliver the certificate to the first generation of graduates as well as for the opening lecture of the Summer school.
You will find in annex all the information about these two programmes as well as on our website http://www.ulb.ac.be/assoc/odysseus/
As with our Summer School, the Certificate will be entirely self-financed and consequently will only continue if we have around thirty subscribers, and so we would be very grateful if you would help us promote its existence. All you need to do therefore is just to forward the present message and its annexes to any persons who might be interested in the programme or to send us their details or a file with addresses to odysseus@ulb.ac.be .

J’ai l’honneur, au nom du Réseau académique Odysseus et de ses membres présents dans 21 des 27 Etats membres de l’Union européenne, de vous informer de la tenue de la 7ème édition du cours d’été sur la politique européenne d’immigration et d’asile que nous organisons chaque année depuis 6 ans déjà et qui se tiendra à nouveau à l’Université Libre de Bruxelles (U.L.B.) du 2 au 13 juillet 2007.
J’ai par ailleurs le plaisir de vous informer de la continuation du programme de formation d’une année entière que nous avons inauguré en septembre 2006. Le succès constant de notre cours d’été qui attire chaque année depuis 2001 plus de 150 personnes provenant de toute l’Union Européenne et la demande croissante de formation en la matière, nous ont en effet encouragés à créer un certificat visant à l’acquisition d’une connaissance approfondie du droit européen de l’immigration et de l’asile pour former de véritables spécialistes de cette nouvelle branche du droit communautaire en pleine expansion. La première année a rassemblé un groupe intéressant de 18 participants provenant d’horizons différents.
Nous espérons avoir l’honneur et le plaisir d’accueillir dans les premiers jours de juillet M. Franco Frattini, Vice-président de la Commission Européenne en charge des questions de Justice, de Liberté et de Sécurité pour remettre officiellement les certificats à la première génération de diplômés ainsi que pour prononcer la leçon inaugurale du cours d’été.

Etant donné que le certificat est, comme notre cours d’été, entièrement autofinancé et qu’il ne pourra par conséquent continuer que si nous avons environ trente inscrits, nous vous saurions très reconnaissants de nous aider à promouvoir son existence. Il vous suffit pour cela de faire suivre le présent message à toute personne susceptible d’être intéressée ou encore de nous faire parvenir leurs coordonnées ou un fichier d’adresses à l’adresse odysseus@ulb.ac.be
